Presenter:
Benita Parsons, Jo Kerlogue, Jackie Pointing
Presentation Date:
Thursday 14 May 2026 | 3:30pm – 4:00pm
Presentation Description:
City of Port Adelaide Enfield Libraries has built a highly successful outreach model in recent years.
Resourced by a dedicated team, using data to prioritise areas of high need, PAE has worked with key partners to take the library to the people, create engaging events and achieve impressive rates of new library memberships.
Innovative elements of the outreach model include:
- using geographic mapping of membership data to identify suburbs where there is the greatest opportunity to reach non-members.
- working with teams across the whole Council organisation for community events.
- children’s librarians, local history and STEM experts supporting outreach engagement.
- passive engagement and visual arts as outreach tools.
- leveraging existing campaigns and partnerships.
- using grant funds to enhance outreach events.
PAE Libraries outreach events have successfully reached First Nations and culturally diverse communities.
The Library outreach team was part of a project winning the South Australian Local Government Professionals Award for Community Partnerships and Collaboration in 2025.
